Birthday Books

The program provides students with a “permanent” form of commemorating their birthdays while simultaneously providing additional reading material to the Meadow View Learning Center.

Advantages

  1. Child has opportunity to provide a book based on their own interests.
  2. Allows child to be in the limelight as his/her name will be placed in the monthly newsletter and a bookplate with his/her name will be placed on the inside book cover. Additionally, the book will be showcased on a special display shelf in the Learning Center.
  3. Provides a low cost method of adding to the Learning Center’s collection.
  4. Encourages children to read more as they may wish to read selections their classmates and friends have donated.
How it works:
  1. Prior to a child’s birthday month, a parent or guardian completes a Birthday Book Request Form (click here), which is then returned to the Meadow View PTO. Should the child’s birthday fall during the summer months of June, July or August, the child may want to choose his/her half-birthday month. Learning Center personnel will help your child choose a book based on his/her interests or favorite author.
  2. As close to the child’s birthday as feasible, the newsletter will feature an article listing each child’s name.
  3. The donated books will be placed on special display in the Learning Center. Each book will have a bookplate pasted on the inside cover acknowledging the donor. The child will also receive a thank you note from the committee.
In order to make more lasting additions to the Learning Center, only high-quality, hardcover books will be purchased. Each book has a lifetime guarantee. Should a Birthday Book become damaged, it will be replaced at no cost and a new nameplate will be inserted..
