Frank Boenzi is a great thrower (51-5 and 143-10 ... not bad for a freshman). They also had a good sprinter, John Wilger (11.2 and 23.3). John Yell went 2:05 in the 800 and 4:54 in the 1600. Kevin Sparks went 10:17 in the 3200. Plainfield North also has a very good team. We won the 4x1, 4x2, and 4x4 with our best freshman efforts of the season. Erran Pagan had his first 6-race day. He responded well anchoring two winning relays and placing high in both sprints (11.5 and 24.3). Kyle Possedi finally became a member of the 40-foot club in the shot. He also PR'd in the discus. Kyle will throw 45 and 135 next year. Kevin Capodice was only 0.1 seconds from the 800 meet record (2:02.6). He also dominated the field in his anchor leg of the 4x4 (53.6). In his first-ever 4x1, he ran the #1 leg in an impressive 11.9 ... obviously this guy is not just a distance runner. Bryce Corrigan had his best race of the year in the 400 (61.6). The surprise of the meet ... Mike Meredith. Mike ran a 4-second PR in the 4x800 (2:17) then came back later with a 26-second PR in the 1600 (5:14). Mike will run Cross Country for the first time next fall. We've found you another one Coach Thoms! Brent Shelton placed in three events and ran his first ever 4x400 (59.2). Max Korzec capped a great freshman year with a PR in the 4x400 (56.2). Despite the loss of our best all-around freshman athlete (Devonta Davis) this freshman class has a GREAT future. Having a season-ending meet like this has the entire group looking forward to 2008. Go Tigers. |
