This was not a good meet. Central, the SPC's strongest team did not come in full force. We practiced hard (especially the distance runners and throwers) on Monday ... looking ahead to the conference meet nine days away. Our best three hurdlers ran alternate events due to their heavy workout Monday as well. There was not much electricity in the air. However ... Anyone who stayed for the last event saw something special. Jake Arnold ran the 4x4 outdoors for the first time. He was behind by 30 meters to a runner from South. The guy from South ran an outstanding 52.0 split but Jake made him look slow. Jake's split of 47.8 was the best 4x4 split of anyone I've ever coached ... and I've coached some great quarter-milers. http://www.psd202.org/pnhs/Athletics/Boys_Track/Hall_of_Fame.html I told Jake that his running style reminded me of Michael Johnson ... Jake has never seen Michael run. http://baylorbears.cstv.com/sports/c-track/mtt/johnson_michael00.html Kevin Capodice went home sick and did not participate. Andrew Karas is still not feeling well. Sophomore Johnny Lee improved his PR in the shot from 40-0 to 43-11 ... great job! Sophomore Maurice Parker surprised everyone with a 56.7 in the 4x4. Freshman Brent Shelton continues to improve in the 300 INT, running a PR 46.7. He also won the FS Triple Jump (34-6). Jinks Arnold had a solid day running 11.2* in the 100 Meters and also running quality legs for our winning 4x1, 4x2, and 4x4 teams. Lorenzo Diaz and Freshman Max Korzec won the Varsity and FS High Jump. We go to Lockport Friday ... bus time 3:30, meet begins at 5:00. Conference next Thursday at Plainfield North. Go Tigers. |
