  Some people refer to this as the "Indoor State Meet" but it is not.  Powerhouse teams such as Cahokia and East St. Louis do not attend (and we will certainly see them in Charleston in late May).
   
  However, 75% of the elite athletes in the state do attend.
   
  Andrew Karas ran splits of 64-68-72-68.  Andrew is a competitive kid who is at his best when he is in a race ... competing to win.  The field was very strong and after his strong 2:12 opening 800, he found himself at the back of the back instead of competing for first.  His 4:32 was remarkable considering his position in the race.  Evan Jager of Algonquin Jacobs, who ran 4:11 at the Boston Indoor Games in January did not attend.  In matter of fact, five of the top six milers in the state did not run.  The race was still a great one with FIVE RUNNERS UNDER 4:21.
   
  Andrew Karas has established himself as the BEST SOPHOMORE MILER in the state of Illinois according to the Illinois Prep Top Times website.
   
  Jacob Arnold came into the meet with the 5th best time (22.61).  Jacob, like Andrew, was a victim of circumstances.  Indoors, lane one is a curse due to very tight curves.  This is especially hard on a tall runner like Jacob.  Jacob ran 23.06 and placed 13th overall.
   
  Jacob Arnold has established himself as the BEST SOPHOMORE 200 METER RUNNER in the state of Illinois according to the Illinois Prep Top Times website.

  Our sprint relay team (4x200) was only .05 of second from qualifying to run in this meet.  Only 5 hundredths of a second away!  Next year we plan on taking three relay teams and several individuals to the Top Times Invite.

  On a sad note, sprinter/jumper John Monge will miss the rest of the season with a broken leg.  The injury occurred in a baseball game.  John was one of our best baseball players and also one of the fastest guys in the school  (4.6 in the 40 yard dash, 6.6 in the 55 meters).  He was the only PNHS athlete playing both sports.
