Tryouts

We currently have two tryouts. Tryouts for Football are in May of the prior school year. If you are trying out for the 2009 football cheer team, tryouts will be in May 18-20 with the Mandatory Parent and Cheerleader meeting on May 21 at 6pm in open area 1.

Tryouts for basketball are The end of October/begining of November. The basketball team will compete during the basketball season. It is very important that you are conditioned for cheerleading in order to prevent injury. Trying out for basketball only, requires you to condition on your own to prevent neck, back, knee, shoulder, ect. For flyers, pulled muscles and lack of arm/leg/core strength is the result from the lack of conditioning.

JV requirements: There are no minimum requirements for JV; however, the greater your skill level the higher your score. Tumbling skills are very valuable in competitive and sideline cheering. It is the expectation, that cheerleaders will be working on increasing skills at every level. Tumbling skill points begin at Flip Flops not cartwheels and Round-offs. Continue to work on cartwheels and Round offs; however, they do not have a point value. Begin work on your flip flop as soon as you are ready.

Varsity requirements: Varsity cheerleaders will have a minum of a Flip Flop. If we are in need of a Flyer, Base or Backspot, the tumbling requirement may be waved. The goal is to have full team tumbling; however, we will also set the team so stunts are strong as well. Flyers should be working double downs and flexibility for single leg stunts. Bases should be working on maining and seconding. Backspots working on double downs with flyers and single man stunting with bases.

Summer

Practice: M,W,F begining in June. This year we are starting snack o'day!
