To the Plainfield District 202 Community

Welcome to the third high school in Plainfield! On Monday, August 22, 2005, the ribbon will be cut and the front doors at 12005 South 248 th Avenue will open to Plainfield North High School for the entire community to see for the first time. I am so excited for all of our students and staff.

This dream began back in March of 2002 when our community said yes to the referendum. The ground was officially broken and construction got underway in February of 2004. The once rich Wheatland Township soil has since been cultivated into a beautiful structure that we can all be proud of.

On August 24 th we will witness 1200 students entering the new school for the first time. They will set the tone for others to follow in years to come. They have an opportunity to create something special. Furthermore, they have a new building that is ready to embrace learning, a staff that is caring and enthusiastic about coming together for the first time as an inaugural team committed to helping each individual student achieve success with dignity, a parent and booster club organization devoted to providing support and encouragement for all students. Wow!

Our fall athletic teams have already begun practicing, and the excitement of student participation throughout PNHS is catching on. The cheerleaders and poms are getting ready as well. Even though the Fine Arts wing is still under construction, our band and choir students are gearing up for some upcoming performances. The clubs and class sponsors are also beginning to plan for the homecoming parade and spirit week.

I eagerly look forward to opening our doors to everyone. This is a magnificent structure, but more importantly, it is the people that makeup this school that I am most proud of. Throughout the years to come, the students and staff will develop a tradition that will last a lifetime, and we will always preserve the rich tradition and memories that the Wheatland Township Festival, better known as the “plowing match” provided us dating back to 1876.

Respectfully,

Dr. Peter Pasteris, Principal
