an imageFalconry is an art. It requires long hours, constant devotion, finesse, subtlety and skill. The falconer must train a bird of prey to fly free, hunt for a human being and then accept a return to captivity. A fledgling falconer should begin with knowledge. The beginner must learn about the various gaming birds, their stages of life, characteristics, prey, care, feeding and suitability for the falconer and the hunting environment.

an imageAdmitedly we aren't going to go camping but we are going to set up an actual campsite here on campus. Here we will learn how to pitch a tent, fillet fish, get a fire started and some other camping essentials. Even though we will not go camping members are still encouraged to use the skills learned here to go camping.

an imageThis solo sport has been around for ages, and competitive archery remains a major event in the summer Olympics. Archery, the art of using a bow to shoot arrows at a target, is one of the oldest precision sports still practiced today. Its origins date back to prehistoric times when the bow and arrow were used to hunt. Today, competitive archery is enjoyed in many different forms, including: Bowhunting: Hunting game animals, Field archery: Shooting at targets in woodlands and rough terrain and Target archery: Shooting at targets in a competitive arena. Though bowhunting is by far the most popular form of archery in the United States, target archery is the only discipline featured in Olympic competition.

It is an ancient and worldwide practice that dates back about 10,000 years with various techniques and traditions and it has been transformed by modern technological developments. Fishing continues to be a favorite pastime in the United States, in 2001, 16% of the U.S. population 16 years old and older (34 million anglers) spent an average of 16 days fishing. Freshwater fishing was the most popular type of fishing with over 28 million anglers devoting nearly 467 million angler-days to the sport.
