PSHS Sports Medicine program kicks off this school year with the arrival of its new website.  We hope you find our website helpful and informative.  The sports medicine staff has been hard at work keeping our fall athletes safe and healthy.  The Student Athletic Training Assistant program is making big steps towards a well rounded program.  This year began a new system of testing into a performance level.  The students have embraced and thrived on this new level of learning.  The indoor athletic training room has added some new accessories my means of our alumni.  Thanks to four of our former PSHS Sports Medicine students for their college banners and the many memories they have left with us.

More exciting news is the addition of ATI Physical Therapy to the PSHS Sports Medicine Team.  Their help thus far with sports physicals and additional athletic training coverage has enhanced the quality of care available to our student-athletes.  ATI has also made it possible for the athletic training staff to soon utilize a concussion software program beginning in January 2006.  This program will assist our athletic trainers and team physician in monitoring athletes suspected of sustaining a concussion during athletic participation.  ATI’s helpful hand has allowed the athletic training room to go PAPERLESS!!!  And what does that mean?  A computerized software program has been installed to more efficiently manage injury recording, tracking and treatment documentation.  The athletic trainers have been given palm pilots to record all this necessary information in a very timely and detailed manor which was more challenging when using the good old pen and paper route.  More importantly this software programs has achieved a long time goal of the athletic trainers in maintaining complete privacy to all student health and injury information.  More information on both the concussion and SportsWare software program will be coming soon.
