Contemporary Literature (Seniors): “This course offers writing experiences coupled with a literature base that makes the student more culturally literate. Through a diverse array of literature (including multi-cultural literature) from the later half of the canon, this course creates culturally aware students prepared for the multitude of experiences awaiting them in the college classroom and beyond.” -From District 202’s Curriculum Guide
English Literature (Juniors): “This course presents within an historical context. Beginning with Anglo-Saxon writings, students learn about the progression of literature from its earliest stages through the 17th Century. Selected authors and works from the Anglo-Saxon, Medieval, Renaissance, and 17th Century period are noted. Important developments in the English language are reviewed. In addition to the extensive reading, students will be further developing their literary analysis skills in writing. The course is designed to give students a broader sense of the development of literature as a foundation for further study at the college level.” -From District 202’s Curriculum Guide |
