Policies
Students are expected to dress for P.E. Classes.
Dress
On days when they change for P.E. class, students are required to wear P.E. uniforms purchased from the Plainfield Schools. These uniforms may be purchased in the Timber Ridge Office and are identical to those used at Plainfield High Schools.
Gym uniforms that are ripped or torn may not be worn for P.E. classes, and must be repaired or replaced.
Gym shoes and white socks must be worn for P.E. classes. (The gym shoes may be any color. The socks may have stripes).
P.E. classes are usually held outside, weather permitting, during the first and last 9-10 weeks of the school year. Sweat suits, sweaters or jackets may be worn under gym suits.
Students are strongly advised to put their names on their P.E. clothing.
Jewelry may not be worn during P.E. classes.
No Dress
A student without a P.E. uniform may participate in class activities at the discretion of the P.E. teacher.
A student whose P.E. uniform is missing should first check the lost and found in the Office and then the P.E. office for his or her uniform. If the uniform is not found, a non-regulation uniform may be worn for a reasonable time (as determined by the P.E. teacher) until a new uniform is purchased. When the P.E. teacher determines that a new P.E. uniform has not been purchased within a reasonable time, a grade reduction will occur. The student will be notified of any grade reduction.
Uniform Rental: Students without a uniform will be required to rent a shirt and/or shorts from the P.E. office for a minimal fee. All rental uniforms are clean. Shoes and socks are not available.
Unless excused, not dressing for P.E. class is not an option. A student must be in his/her uniform or a rental. A student refusing to wear a uniform, when one is available, may receive disciplinary action.
